Dr. David Woolard
DVM, DACVIM
Esteemed Senior Veterinarian Specialist in Neurology
Dr. David Woolard’s interest in veterinary medicine stems from his upbringing in the lovely hamlet of New Paltz, NY, where he gained a love of animals at a young age. Being the youngest of five siblings, Dr. Woolard’s early life was characterized by a love of animals and a commitment to quality.
After excelling in academics and athletics, including a notable stint in football, Dr. Woolard attended Ithaca College and graduated with distinction in 2012. Eager to get practical experience, he spent a year working in two prestigious veterinary hospitals in his hometown, immersing himself in both small and large animal practice and polishing his skills under the supervision of experienced specialists.
Dr. Woolard continued his education at Cornell University, where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2017. Following graduation, he took the chance to continue his education and experience by completing a rigorous one-year general internship at the famous Animal Medical Center in 2018.
Dr. Woolard chose to specialize in neurology and neurosurgery because to his passion for the deep complexity of the nervous system and the possibility for transformative interventions. He began a rigorous residency in neurology and neurosurgery at the Animal Medical Center, where he delved deeply into the complexities of his chosen field, with a particular emphasis on neurosurgery and emerging minimally invasive techniques that are revolutionizing the treatment of neurosurgical diseases in companion animals.
Dr. Woolard is thrilled to be joining the distinguished Neurology Service at the Animal Medical Center as he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his career. He is looking forward to making substantial contributions to the field and moving to AMC.
Dr. Woolard enjoys the basic pleasures of life in addition to his professional pursuits. He enjoys spending time with his growing family, which includes both humans and animals, and he feeds his love of food by immersing himself in New York City’s bustling culinary culture. As an advocate for an active lifestyle, he places a high priority on physical health and participating in outdoor activities whenever possible.
