Being a Senior Veterinarian with a focus in Surgical Oncology, Dr. Stephen Burton brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to his job. His rise to prominence in veterinary medicine began in academia and continued to the forefront of clinical care innovation.

Dr. Burton studied at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, where he received his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2016. He was born in Philadelphia. Driven by a deep passion to improve surgical techniques and oncological care for companion animals, he continued to push the boundaries of veterinary science, finishing a one-year rotating internship at the esteemed Animal Medical Center in small animal medicine and surgery.

Motivated by an unwavering quest for superiority, Dr. Burton refined his surgical expertise throughout his residency at the Animal Medical Center, where he excelled as the Kovner Surgery Resident. The veterinary community was impressed by his commitment and knowledge, which encouraged him to pursue additional surgical oncology specialization.

In his quest for advanced education, Dr. Burton found himself at the renowned Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where he finished an innovative surgical oncology residency at the esteemed Flint Animal Cancer Center. He became well-known in the field while attending Colorado State University, where he was admitted as a Fellow in Surgical Oncology and certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in Small Animal Surgery.

Dr. Burton is dedicated to giving cancer-stricken dogs and cats compassionate, all-encompassing care in his current capacity. He ensures the best potential outcomes for his patients by combining cutting-edge surgical procedures with a thorough awareness of the complexity of oncological diseases.

Outside of the operation room, Dr. Burton enjoys pursuing his interests unrelated to veterinary care. He enjoys cooking, running, and supporting the arts. He also enjoys taking on endurance challenges and exploring the city’s diverse cultural scene.
